Self lubricating bearing, also known as plain bearing or friction bearing or
oilless bearing or sliding bearing, which is the simplest type of bearing
Self lubricating bushing, is an independent plain bearing that is pressed into a housing to provide a bearing surface for rotary applications. This type bush is the most common form of a plain bearing. It includes three type: Composite metal polymer bushing (
DU bushing,
DX bushing),Bimetal bearing, single metal bearing( wrapped bronze bush, cast
solid bronze bearing). And it’s common designs include solid (sleeve and flanged), split and clenched bushings. A sleeve, split, or clenched bushing is only a "sleeve" of material with an inner diameter (ID), outer diameter (OD), and length(L). The difference between the three types is that a solid sleeved bushing is solid all the way around, a split bushing has a cut along its length, and a clenched bearing is similar to a split bushing but with a clenched across the cut. A flanged bushing is a sleeve bushing with a flange extending radially outward from the ID. The flange is used to positively locate the bushing when it is installed or to provide a thrust bearing surface.
Self lubricating bearing has a lot of advantages as follows:
Long life
Low friction coefficient
Resistant to creep and mechanical stresses
Electrically and thermally conductive
Low maintenance cost
High wear resistance
Corrosion resistant
High load capacity
Performs well in high and low temperature conditions
Light weight
