Graphite is a type of carbon with very good performance of lubricant.It can be machined as different dimater based on requirement and plug into bronze or steel bushing to make them with better performance of self lubricating. Those bushes which is plugged with graphite also called self lubricating bushing, oilless sliding bearing, bronze graphite bearing or sliding bearing
What's underwater graphite Plug?
PTFE plug is special designed solid lubricant plug for underwater or marine application.When bronze bushing will be used for underwater or water contact situation, sea port equipment and etc, we need to plug PTFE as lubricant because stanadard graphite doesn't work for those situations.

Graphite is very low cost lubricant, when we check oiles bearing with graphite cost, we even can ignore the cost of graphite
Underwater plug is made of high percentage PTFE, carbon and other lubricant. It have very high cost compared with graphite. Considering the same diameter graphite and underwater graphite plug, the cost of underwater graphite plug will be about 10-15 times of graphite
